KITIERA's TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Students learn dance "from the inside out." Focusing on anatomy and muscle specifics allows the dancer to gain control and dexterity, in addition to keeping the student safe. Attention is always on alignment and quality of movement. Kitiera helps students explore and push past their limits in a loving and safe atmosphere. Classes stress intensity and quality of movement. Proper warm-up and cool downs are given with every class. Dancers learn to love the process and the practice of dance art, not just the performance.

Belly Dance Technique: Technical foundations of Belly Dance. Core movements are broken down and drilled. Advanced level classes focus on speed, stamina, and layering. Isolation break downs and terminology used are based in the Suhaila Salimpour Belly Dance Technique. You may wish to have a yoga mat during the warm up.
ModRom Belly Dance: Kitiera's personal belly dance stylization. A fun fusion of belly dance/ Romani dance/ jazz dance. Emphasis on layering belly dance movements over foot patterns and learning regional steps and influences. Intermediate level cymbal patterns accompany class. Please bring finger cymbals to class.
Dance Fusion: A fun class targeted at developing core dance foundations while working out in an upbeat and high energy atmosphere. Jazz/ Ballet/ Belly/ Hip Hop fusion! Please bring jazz or ballet shoes to class.
Choreography & Musicality: ***CLOSED CLASS - INSTRUCTOR INVITATION ONLY*** Learn choreography by Kitiera, learn the basic principles of choreography development, work on your own personal choreography in a supportive and open environment, explore musicality and stage dynamics, develop creative and powerful stage performances. Please bring a notebook and pen to class.
Dance Conditioning: Develop the core skills needed to be a great dancer. This class will use various exercises from belly dance, pilates, yoga, group fitness, and traditional western dance training techniques. Prepare to sweat! Please bring a yoga mat to class.
Restorative Dance: Floor barre and slow dance movement for warming the joints, building technique, and improving flexibility. Enjoy the power of slow and purposeful movement training. Appropriate for all levels - including dancers and athletes working through minor injury rehabilitation. Class includes a gentle combination and breathwork, then ends with a 5 minute stillness meditation. Please bring a yoga mat to class.
